STEP ONE
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Okay. So..I don't ever post, and finally, I have something "post-worthy" and I don't have a way to frickin upload pictures. I will figure out a way soon though.
So..yesterday morning, in the still hurricane winds and rain, I had to get out and go to work. People were getting in there social security checks, and we had to be here for that. Hmph. After not going to work on Tuesday because of the power outage, I had to go and pick up some work coming from our Newellton branch. It was at Roxanne's house, which is about 5 miles out of my way to work.
Anyway, since I was already that far, I decided I'd just take the back roads to Clayton seeing as it would be a quicker route. I was just scootin' along doing about 40. I wasn't going as fast as I normally would have been, thank God, because I was worried about there possibly being a tree in the road or what have you. So, it was raining, and I was approaching the curve at Steep Bayou. I saw some caution signs, and I slowed down a bit, but they were in the opposite lane on the other end of this little zig zag of a curve. I was busy trying to figure out what they were cautioning when I hit this huge sink in the road. The ground was deteriorating from all the rain causing the road to cave. I thought I was ded. That's right. D-E-D. Ded.
This is what it looked like that afternoon.

So... I was shaking sooo bad. I was scared. I pulled off the road around the corner, and got out to check everything out. Everything looks okay enough. I really thought that my whole front end was going to be all effed up. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't. However, I was still scared as fuck. Shaking and everything.
I call Chris, who by now works for the DOTD, and inform him of what just happened and where this hole is so that they can come down and close the road and such. The jackass doesn't once ask if I'm okay. This really upsets me. Perhaps more than it should have, but I could have been killed and he didn't even seemed concerned. My own damned husband!! I was so mad. I called the Sheriff after him. No...really...After I talked to him, I called the Sheriff so that they could get someone out there until the DOTD could make it.
I went on to work, and throughout the day, my back started hurting, and I got a headache. From hitting the big ass hole no doubt. Chris and them go down and check it out, and he realizes just how big this sink is. Calls me, still has not asked how I am-mind you, and dares to admonish me for "not watching where I was going and not being more careful" and, God forbid, leaving black marks on the road. HIS road. I was being careful. I could have been flying around that curve like I have done many a time before.
These are the black marks.

Yesterday I went back to the "scene" after work and took a couple of pictures. Then, this morning, Chris and the others went back to check things out and he reported that the whole road is gone by now. He sent me a picture from his phone around 11:15 this morning. I almost threw up. Just over night, the hole had gotten big enough for me to park my car in length-wise and still have room. And there was nothing but mud and water.
This is how it still looks as of Saturday (9/6).

I am so lucky. I know this. I shall update with pictures, as soon as I figure out where I'm going to. I don't have the internet at home, and we don't really have a way to upload them at work, but I may have to borrow Jay's computer or something.
